Millions Of Americans Report Driving Soon After Smoking Marijuana

AAA says almost 15 million Americans report driving within one hour of smoking marijuana in the past 30 days.

Spokesman Mark Jenkins says driving stoned is like driving drunk.

"Marijuana is a mind-altering drug- it affects the way you drive," Jenkins says. "It can alter your attention, your balance, coordination and your reaction time. Basically, all the skills you need to stay safe behind the wheel."

Marijuana users who drive high are twice as likely to be involved in a crash.

Millennials are most likely to report driving within an hour after using marijuana at 14% and men (8%) are more likely than women (5%) to report driving shortly after smoking pot.

The survey also revealed that nearly 70% of Americans feel it's unlikely people who drive high will be caught by police.
